Venable Foundation Annual Report | FY2024

supporting Miami-based nonprofit organizations. The Venable Foundation was pleased to support 14 new organizations in the Miami area with missions in youth impact, legal services, human services, and the arts. And our growth does not stop there: in 2025, the Venable Foundation will officially begin awarding grants in the Denver market. At the same time, Venable is proud of its Maryland roots. The firm owes much of its success to Baltimore, where it was founded more than a century ago. Accordingly, we are committed to giving back to the city—especially when it is most in need of aid. In late March, the tragic collapse of Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge impacted local businesses and individuals’ livelihoods, and strained the mental health of those who live and work nearby. In response, the Venable Foundation contributed $25,000 to the Maryland Tough Baltimore Strong Key Bridge Fund at the Baltimore Community Foundation, which raised funds to meet the needs of the affected communities. This year, we also partnered with another Baltimore institution, the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, to create the Venable Fund for Neurosurgery Research. This multi-year grant, which honors the memory of our former managing partner, Larry Gesner, is the first of its kind from the Foundation, and will provide $100,000 annually through 2028, advancing vital brain tumor research with the potential to change lives. Whether partnering with organizations in our founding city or engaging with new regions as we grow, the Venable Foundation remains dedicated to service. With our local values and national impact, we are building stronger communities and creating opportunities for all to thrive this year and beyond.
