Venable Foundation Annual Report | FY2022

A Sense of Home (ASOH) The population at greatest risk for becoming homeless is the 30,000 youth who age out of foster care each year. A Sense of Home (ASOH) strives to prevent homelessness by creating first-ever homes for Los Angeles youth aging out of the foster care system. These individuals are often ill equipped to navigate a successful path to self-sufficiency and independent adulthood, but ASOH gives them the tools they need to thrive in the form of shelter with donated furniture and home goods. By creating a functional and emotionally comforting home, and by connecting youth to other critical resources and to a community support system, ASOH is preventing homelessness among a vulnerable population. “Our mission is to not only prevent homelessness for youth aging out of foster care but to change the trajectory of their lives and equip them to make meaningful contributions to society. We are so thrilled and honored to partner with Venable Foundation. Their generous grant ensures ASOH achieves our mission, and we deeply appreciate and value the Venable Foundation’s mission.” – Georgie Smith, Co-Founder and CEO The Grantees
