Venable Foundation Annual Report | FY2022

2022 Impact Grants Addressing Homelessness The Venable Foundation continued its annual tradition of awarding more concentrated funding outside of its regular cycle to address a specific need that is affecting all of our office communities across offices. These Impact Grants are above- and-beyond contributions and focus on a different overarching theme each year to drive change in that area of need. Last year, homelessness felt particularly important. In 2022, the Foundation gave $480,000 to two nonprofit organizations in each of the firm’s respective communities, including Baltimore, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and Washington, DC. The impact funding benefited organizations focused on providing housing and enhanced services to individuals experiencing homelessness. The 2022 grant season also saw the Foundation’s expansion to the Chicago market, providing first-time grants to organizations combating homelessness in the community. A $10,000 grant was awarded to Sarah’s Circle to support an interim housing program for women, and a $25,000 grant was awarded to Night Ministry for outreach, including a new mobile medical bus. In DC, Washington Legal Clinic for the Homeless (WLCH), an organization advocating for justice for people who struggle with homelessness, received $25,000 to help support its Legal Assistance Project. Miriam’s Kitchen, which collaborates across sectors to help end chronic homelessness in DC, received $75,000 in general operating support to help as the organization ramps up to partner with the city to ensure homeless individuals receive housing vouchers. A first-time grant of $25,000 was awarded to St. Vincent de Paul Society of San Francisco for general operating support to help underwrite homeless and domestic violence support. The Foundation also awarded $50,000 to Operation Dignity to help the organization continue serving homeless veterans in Oakland and enable the organization to support staff at risk of burnout. In New York, Urban Pathways received $50,000 to help the organization continue to serve homeless The Impact
