Venable Foundation Annual Report | FY2022
“Since I first learned about Sanctuary for Families from a friend, I’ve been inspired by the great work the organization does to protect some of the most vulnerable people in New York from domestic violence and human trafficking.” Attorney Connections A deeply rooted value held by the firm is to have its attorneys give back to our communities. In 2022, more than half of Venable Foundation grantees had a Venable attorney connection to the organization through board membership, pro bono legal service, volunteerism, or donorship. This committment to impacting the community emanates throughout the firm, as attorneys and staff have engaged with 56% of the grantees as board members or volunteers, or in some other manner. By helping individuals and organizations connect with opportunities, resources, and each other, the firm’s impact reaches far beyond day-to-day business operations. “I am the founding chairman of the DC Jazz Festival, and since its inception in 2004, the festival has grown to become the District of Columbia’s largest musical event. In addition to staging performances by jazz musicians, with the support of the Venable Foundation the festival provides educational programs at schools across the city.” The Connections Claude E. Bailey Partner Board Member, DC Jazz Festival Edward P. Boyle Partner Volunteer, Sanctuary for Families
