Venable Foundation Annual Report - FY2019
In furtherance of our long-term partnership with Bread for the City, which provides food, clothing, medical services, education, and legal services to low-income Washington, DC residents, the Foundation also awarded a grant of $70,000 to their campaign to expand into a larger facility in Southeast DC. As a result of this gift, the Children’s Resource Center will be named after the Venable Foundation. Finally, the Foundation is continuing its commitment to advancing legal support for the public sector and ensuring access to legal services for low-income groups. To this end, we have awarded more than $600,000 in grants to legal aid organizations across the country and have awarded fellowships to students at Fordham Law School, New York University Law School, and Columbia University School of Law who are pursuing public service internships. Grantmaking activities in 2019 were effective in further solidifying Venable’s commitment to providing meaningful impact in the communities that we serve. Through funding for general operations and for specific projects, the Foundation’s dollars provided essential support for those most in need. Now, as the world is experiencing an economic crisis, we must redouble our efforts to ensure that in the uncertain times ahead, our Foundation will continue to be a steady hand. Lindsay B. Meyer President, Venable Foundation, Inc.
