Summer Associate Program
Pro Bono Program Venable has long recognized the importance of providing first-rate legal representation to those who are unable to afford a lawyer. We are proud to be among the signatories to the Law Firm Pro Bono Challenge. The firm expects its attorneys to devote their time and diverse talents, on a pro bono basis, to improving their communities and the lives of others. Venable attorneys collectively log upwards of 30,000 hours per year firmwide representing a wide range of pro bono clients, including: • Low-income tenants seeking to maintain their housing and to correct substandard living conditions • Victims of domestic violence seeking restraining orders against their abusers • Women, children, and other immigrants fleeing violence and persecution and seeking legal status in the United States • Veterans and persons with disabilities wrongly denied benefits • Incarcerated individuals with claims of actual innocence or facing the death penalty • Victims of police misconduct, including racial profiling and the use of excessive force • Nonprofit entities with organizational, transactional, tax, and operational needs • Low-income seniors with estate planning needs • Public school children with special education needs • Low-income children who are the subject of custody disputes between caregivers • Individuals and organizations seeking to protect intellectual property rights Our Community An unwavering commitment to the welfare of the communities in which we live and work has been a hallmark of the firm.” – Benjamin R.
