Summer Associate Program

An important source for new Venable attorneys is our summer program, held in eight of our offices: Baltimore, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, San Francisco, Tysons, and Washington, DC. Through the program, we provide new attorneys with challenging, rewarding work in a collaborative and professional environment. An extensive orientation program, a wide variety of professional training workshops, and mentoring by exceptional practitioners across multiple practice areas make Venable an outstanding place for attorneys to launch their legal careers. With no formal rotation, summer associates have an opportunity to explore a variety of practice groups across our four divisions – Government, Business, IP, and Litigation. Individualized feedback, intra-firm collaboration, and multifaceted mentorship keep summer program participants engaged and jump-start professional growth. We engage summer associates in two marquee exercises involving small group simulations in the transactional space and in the fundamentals of litigation. These programs are run by senior partners who serve as mentors and evaluators throughout. Venable strives to maintain a balance between work and social events for the duration of the summer program. Each office puts a unique spin on the program to reflect the culture of its locale. Informal dinners, happy hours, and lunches are some of the best ways for summer associates to get to know our attorneys and our firm.
